Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the most frequently asked questions and need to know information prior to starting at Milestone Pediatric Therapy
What types of therapy services does Milestone offer?
Milestone Pediatric Therapy currently offers pediatric physical therapy services only.
In the future, we have some big dreams of offering other types of therapy services like occupational therapy or speech therapy services.
If you are looking for these other types of services, do not hesitate to still reach out. We are happy to go over our list of local providers with you and direct you to a provider who will be able to best help your child!
Does Milestone accept my insurance?
Milestone Pediatric Therapy is considered out of network for all insurance providers. However, Milestone will provide families with a Superbill for each session that contains all the necessary information, including ICD-10 and CPT codes, for a client's individual insurance company to reimburse you directly should you decide to submit the claim. Milestone is happy to help parents with the process of submitting to insurance but we do not directly handle any claims.
We have chosen this approach as we feel this allows us to focus on treating your child with the best care, giving the best one-on-one, individualized programing your child needs to meet their goals. It allows us to design the best treatment plan for the progress and goals of your child. It also allows us to incorporate sessions in the community, one-on-one consultations with other providers in your child's care, as well as new technology and research that may not be covered by your insurance company.
Please see Milestone's blog post "5 Reasons Why Fee-for-Service Therapy is Better" for more information!
However if you prefer to use your insurance, Milestone Pediatric Therapy is proud to partner with Body Elite Physical Therapy to be able to accept nearly all forms of insurance including most Medicaid.
How much will it cost me?
Pricing is based on variety of factors. For more information please contact Milestone Pediatric Therapy today!

Do I need a doctor's referral?
Short answer is NO!
For physical therapy services, Dr. McIntyre is direct access certified. Direct Access laws in Virginia now allow Dr. McIntyre to treat a client without a prescription from a doctor. However, the plan of care will be sent to the parent's physician of choice for signature and notification their patient is being treated. And in the case a patient is being actively seen by a physician for the condition being sought treatment, a prescription is still encouraged in order to align the patient’s whole healthcare team.
Why should I choose Milestone?
Dr. McIntyre's experience and approach to pediatric physical therapy including therapeutic, rehabilitative play, one-on-one client services, and services expanding beyond the confines of the clinic, help the clients who are treated through Milestone achieve their goals and successes faster.
Personalized treatment approaches and plans that take into consideration family situations, family/client goals, and client personality, promote active engagement in the therapy process further promoting progress toward your child's movement goals.
Milestone's fostering environment promotes learning through play helping your child grow to meet their goals!
